In this context, Dr. Sirajul Islam Medical College (Dr.SIMC)M is a humble initiative to provide scope for these candidates to study medical science and contribute to the health sector development of Bangladesh.

Affiliation & Recognition

The College is affiliated with the Dhaka University since 31 December, 2011. The college is recognized by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare as well as by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council.


The academic building is furnished with the basic and paraclinical departments such as: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine and Community Medicine. This building also comprises of dissection room, museum, galleries, lecture halls, class rooms, tutorial rooms as well as supporting experimental laboratories for the students. The departments are spacious with well equipped modern teaching facilities.

The clinical Departments such as Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Cardiology, Oncology, Orthopedic Surgery, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Radiology & Imaging, Anesthesiology etc. are situated in the hospital building. These include spacious wards, cabins, emergency, ICU, CCU, NICU, PICU and full fledged teaching facilities.


The library is capacious, well furnished with comfortable sitting arrangement, located in the academic building. It has a vast collection of medical textbooks, reference books, monographs, national and international journals of various subjects which provide up to date information to the students and teachers. The library is also equipped with computers with internet facility. It has user friendly access system. The library is provided with separate reading areas for students and teachers. It remains open from 8:00am to 8:00pm on all working days and is closed only on Fridays and national holidays.


At Dr. SIMC, there are separate hostel accommodation available for both local and foreign students. The hostel building for foreign students is within a short walking distance from the college campus. The entire 5 storied hostel complex for foreign students can accommodate fifty students. The building has well furnished rooms with a separate kitchen in each floor. It ensures an excellent, safe & peaceful environment for the students to study. Moreover, the hostel also provides recreational facilities both in the common room and even outdoors, as the building is enclosed with a beautiful lawn at the entrance of the complex. There is a cafeteria and strong security arrangement in the hostel.

Academic Council

The Academic Council of the college is composed of Principal, Vice-Principal and the senior faculty members ranging from Professors to Assistant Professors of all the departments of the college.

Academic Council is the highest decision making authority of the college regarding all academic activities, administrative matters and student issues relating to the college.

The decisions of the Academic Council within the legal framework of the country and not in conflict with the rules of the Directorate of Health Services, Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council and the University of Dhaka, will be the obligatory binding for all the teachers, officers, employees as well as the students of the college.

College Administration

Principal is the executive head of the college. He is guided by the Governing Body in all administrative and financial matters. Chairman is the executive head of the Governing body. He guides the Principal in all relevant matters of the college. The Principal is advised by the Academic Council in academic matters. The college runs on self-financing and non-profit basis. Deficits on capital and development, if any, are aided by Dr. Sirajul Islam Medical College Hospital (Dr.SIMCH) fund.

Student Attendance

Student attendance is recorded in attendance registers. Regular attendance is compulsory and students are liable for fine of taka one hundred per day for failing to attend classes without permission. Students are eligible to appear in the Dhaka University professional examinations only if they have minimum 75% attendance in classes in the respective subject. An academic calendar is provided to every student to help him/her understand the schedule for the year. Every student is also assigned to a particular member of the faculty for guidance with regard to individual problems.

Library Rules

Students are allowed in the library from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on all working days of the week except on Fridays and national holidays. They are allowed to read and also permitted to borrow books from the library. No food, drink and unnecessary discussion is allowed inside the library.

Students Participation

Students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities such as:

  3. Literary activities such as debate, seminar, publication of annual magazine.

Bangladesh has a unique health system starting from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOH&FW) in the capital to Health Assistant at grass-root level. But due to shortage of budget the service coverage is not adequate and uniform throughout the country. Privatization of health care service is very important for Bangladesh. With this feeling MH Samorita Hospital & Medical College, Dhaka start-ed its journey in 2010 with the permission from the MOH&FW of Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh & University of Dhaka. All praise is for Allah.

MH Samorita Medical College and Dental Unit have taken steps to fulfill this gap and aspiration of the students in the prevailing situation. There is also a 500 bedded teaching hospital attached to MH Samorita Medical College. This Hospital is a well equipped hospital delivering both general and specialized services including ICU, CCU, NICU, HDU & Dialysis unit.

Our challenge is to establish this Medical College and attached Hospital as a centre of excellence keeping its quality, cost and satisfaction of all stakeholders and with great respect to our cultures and values. It has already traversed 4 years by winning these challenges. Now the college has gained confidence to become capable to educate national and foreign students. From last session the college intends admis-sion of students from other countries.

Eligibility For Foreigns Students

Foreign student who interested to admit in the BDS course they must pass the SSC/SLC/O-level/GCSE or equivalent exam with minimum 5 subjects and average mark minimum 60% or GPA-3.50. Also pass in HSC/A-level/12-grade or equivalent examination with Biology Chemistry & Physics and average mark minimum 60% or GPA 3.50 but in Biology must be pass in 60% or GPA 3.50.

All foreign students must be apply to the Director General of Health Service of Government of Bangla-desh for equivalence certificate through the Bangladesh Embassy. All certificates / mark sheets /others certificate and passport photocopy are attested by respected country’s Education Board or Ministry of Education.

Student Profile

A total of 692 students have been admitted to the college so far. Of this figure 117 have qualified as doctors and 56 are undergoing internship. There are currently a total of 572 students who are undergoing academic instruction.

Foreign Students

The first batch of foreign students after qualifying in the 3rd Professional MBBS examination are currently in the fourth year while the second batch completed 1st Professional MBBS examination. The foreign students studying at Delta Medical College are from USA, India, Nepal and Nigeria.


Academic activities are carried out with the following facilities –

The college library is situated on the 7th floor of adjoining college hospital building and remains open from 8.00 am to 8.30 pm. The library has sufficient number of text and reference books of different disciplines including the latest editions on all major subjects. It receives 75 titles of current journals including two international journals regularly. All the books are duly classified and catalogued using international rules and code. The library is equipped with full time internet facilities with easy access to databases like PubMed, Medline, HINARI, AGORA, OARE etc.


There are four hostels supervised by college authority available for the students. Two hostels are for local and two for foreign students.


TFrom the commencement of the institution our endeavor was to establish Delta Medical College as a centre of excellence in all aspects. We are very proud that the overall results of different professional examinations of different batches of MBBS and BDS course are remarkable.
Some of the achievements are –

scoring 4th position in merit list of Dhaka University in MBBS 1st professional examination held in July 2012, including achieving honours marks -three students in Biochemistry and one both in Biochemistry and Anatomy. Two students achieved honours marks in Microbiology in MBBS 2nd professional examination held in July 2014.
One student of BDS course scored 10th position in Dhaka University in BDS 2nd Professional Examination held in February 2016.
One student of 3rd batch got honours marks in Science of Dental Materials in Dhaka University in BDS 1st Professional Examination held in February 2017.

Rangpur Community Medical College is the conversion of a dream of Dr. Md. Mofizuddin Sarker, a son of Lalmonirhat, Bangladesh, to provide the highest standard of medical education and establishment of a model hospital for the poor & deprived rural people of North Bengal.In the year 1975 Dr. Md. Mofizuddin Sarker construct a private Clinic in Rangpur named Nazimuddin Poly Clinic, which was its type of first in north Bengal.

After his death, to tribute to his dream, his family members and some other enthusiastic persons of Rangpur have established 100 bedded Doctors Community Hospital (Pvt.) Ltd. in the year 2000, led by his deserving son Mr. Md. Nazmul Ahasan Sarker.

To meet the increasing demand of Dental Surgeons in the country and abroad Rangpur Dental College started its noble Journey as the first and only private dental college in North Bengal in 2001, under the management of Doctor Community Hospital (Pvt) Ltd.
